Conversation with Jill

I was about to blog about how productive I was today, when Jill IMed me... Bits of conversation edited out. To protect the innocent. Or maybe just to make it easier to follow.

Jill: someday, perhaps two years into the future, but right before you plan to pop out a lil hilary, we should think about going to Burning Man

Hilary: That totally made me laugh - "RIGHT before"

Jill: yah. you know, i don't want to put a strain on your baby schedule

[through further conversation, Jill explained that it should be where I get pregnant, not (as I had assumed) where I should be when I'm 8.5 months pregnant.]

Hilary: then you oughtta work at gettin' pregnant there too

Jill: uh, yeah, sure. i'll work on that

Hilary: excellent

Jill: ok then. glad we got that all planned

Hilary:
whew. Now I feel like I can relax until then

Jill: well, yeah, except you're gonna have to get some timed hormones to make you fertile then. the week before labor day weekend, every year.

So much to look forward to! ;)

Ha. You're funny. We're funny. Seriously, what else comes to mind when you think camping in the desert in a radical temporary community based on the concepts of survival, inclusion, and the gifting of self and art? Um, procreation. Obviously.

And that's a story to tell the kid:

Kid: Mommy, how was I made?

You: Well dear, your father and I are a pair of nature lovin' second wave hippies. We went camping in the most unpredictable environment in North America with 25,000 other contrary mofos who celebrate radical inclusion by designing an art-based idyllic city, creating freaky themed campsites, and burning a 40 foot effigy. Then one night, there was one of those insane storms. And really, dear, what else is there to do stuck in a tent in the middle of the desert with wind and rain raging outside? Come to think of it, what else should you ever do, stuck in the middle of anywhere, when there are wind and rain raging? Procreation, dear. Obviously.

If we can plan the rest of this, surely we can plan a freak storm. :)

Well, yes. Actually the high winds are pretty common. It's the actual rainfall that would be freakish. But indeed, why not.
