I've probably mentioned this song in my blog before, as I love it so much, but I've had it in my head again tonight. People, by Bill Ricchini. (Sara introduced me to him...) I like the lyrics...
Anyway! I've gotten a lot of great emails today. I'm going to post bits and pieces.
One friend looked at my wish list and graded himself in every category.
"I read your blog & I came with an idea to grade myself based on your criteria- not necessarily with you but as 'general boyfriend potential'. I thought I would do well but my scores in dish washing, mind reading and babies brought my overall score down."
It was so great and funny! And looking at it, I realized that although he gave himself an overall score of B, I would weight certain items and he would end up scoring much lower. (Sorry! But good to know! This thing could reallt save me time...) :)
By the way - the dishwashing thing? Well...we could get a dishwasher and problem would be partially solved...someone would still have to load it, I suppose! The mind reading I don't really expect, BUT being intuitive would be a plus. The baby thing? Well...that's really what could bring that score down.
Another friend's email said:
"And you should totally make babies soon, something I almost never advise to anyone. But the world needs more cool moms (not to mention MILFs...which, come to think of it, I probably shouldn't have mentioned)."
Awww - that's so nice! And funny. He also said the creative/outdoorsy thing might be helped by living somewhere else, like Portland (where I thought of moving a couple years ago). Interesting idea for sure, but I do so love NYC. And I like people who like cities. I'm so demanding!
And my mom sent me her own list! Which was great, as she and my step-dad have been together since I was a kid. A good example for me. She liked my list and suggested prioritizing a bit. (Which, of course, I've done in my head...but I don't want to give everything away on my blog...do I?)
And tonight Matt and I made a fabulous dinner! Crabcakes, swordfish, edamame, carrots, zucchini, and wine. And he provided chocolate.
My friends and family rock, don't they?
Busy day tomorrow - going to try to get some sleep...
