I need work.

It's one of those days when I'm considering doing something drastic, like...applying for full-time jobs that'll pay the bills, but suck the life out of me.

Must avoid.

More Million Dollar Mermaid

On Wednesday, we continued filming for Million Dollar Mermaid.

Eric "Badlands" Booker came to Coney Island for the shoot! He is a regular contestant in the July 4th hot dog eating contest at Nathan's. We had him chase Ed McGinty around with Ed dressed as a hot dog. And we had him eat a hot dog in front of the giant picture of him eating a hot dog. :) Fun!!

It was very hot day, but Coney Island was pretty breezy. We were nervous about rain all day, but the thunder and lightning didn't start until the sun was setting and we were wrapping up. Yay!

The film is going to be great - Ed and Joe are hoping to get it into the Coney Island Film Festival. I'll keep ya posted!

Hey! I'm workin' on a short film tribute to Coney Island, directed by Ed McGinty.

The music for it is by Joe McGinty and can be heard here:

Do you wanna be in it? We will need people to waltz in various spots. If you're available Wednesday afternoon, let me know - we could use ya! It's going to be great - and it's an excuse to visit Coney Island before it all changes.

My Photography Website

I'm starting a super-simple website for my photography.

It's a work in progress.

It will live at:
http://www.hilarymchonephotography.com

I have soooo many photos. If there have been any that have stood out for you, I'd love to know which ones so I can consider putting them on my site.

I took one photography class ever. I remember handing in a project with five photos and the teacher asked me which one I liked best. I said "all of them!" and it was true. I love my photos for various reasons - some just because of memories that go along with them, even if, technically, they aren't so great.

In other words, I could use some help. ;)

Happy season-a-versary!

Here is a silly (but fun) song I've had in my head all day...

Si ti dois partir (c'est ok) (as performed by Lloyd Cole). Actually - haven't found lyrics for that version. Still looking. Here's what I have so far.

THE ARGUMENT
written and performed by David Greenspan

Fresh from his OBIE award winning performance in his latest collaboration with Target Margin, as Mephisto in last season's Faust, the multi-talented David Greenspan writes and stars in a new one-man play. Based on both Aristotle's Poetics and the essays of Gerald F. Else, The Argument is a passionate student's love-letter and farewell to his teacher - reminding us of the personal pathos that binds us to the Greeks, and firing us to capture that chimera, art.

DINNER PARTY

An artful and loose adaptation of Plato's Symposium, Dinner Party takes on love from every angle, delving into the original text with gusto to bring out the philosophy and lust, language and appetite, the abstract challenges to our dearly held prejudices - not to mention the really good wine.

Directed by David Herskovits
With: Han Nah Kim, Diana Konopka, Mary Neufeld, Steven Rattazzi, Greig Sargeant, Stephanie Weeks, Ian Wen.

Lighting Design: Lenore Doxsee, Scenic Design: Sarah Edkins, Costume Design: Asta Bennie Hostetter, Sound Design: Jane Shaw, Stage Manager: Arienne Pelletier, Asst. Stage Manager: Olivia O'Brien, Production Manager: Monica Moore, Asst. Director: Sherrine Azab, Dramaturg: Kathleen Kennedy Tobin, TMT Managers: Mallery Avidon & Michael Levinton.

Hooray for good things!

I spent a lot of today being tired and achy and moody.

But good stuff happened too.

- Had a productive "business" meeting (info to unfold in a couple weeks?)
- Arranged a bunch of pictures that made me happy
- Caught up on blogging photos from International TBA Week
- Was given a super easy way to create a new photography website for myself
- Someone offered to design a site for me
- Heard back from nearly all the actors we wanna audition for the play and the can all make it this week
- Scheduled interviews with stage managers
- Jill suggested we go to a fun concert, which we're gettin' tickets for
- Got a photog gig for next week
- Ate ice cream

Yeah. Life's not so bad. :)

Hil Lil Jill

Today was filled with Hil, Lil, and Jill!

This afternoon, Lilly and I went to Prospect Park and she let me practice portraits on her again. It's so great having such a beautiful and willing model!

Then Jill and I went to Starbucks and looked through all the headshots we've gotten so far for the male roles in the play we're working on. (Anyone know any hot actors who can do Australian accents? Send 'em our way!) We've picked a few to contact for auditions. Fun!

After our "meeting", we came back to my apartment and Jill, Lilly, and I made cookies and cream ice cream. We colored it lilac. For what? For Fun!

Here we are before and after:

Mmmmmm. Homemade ice cream.

Sundays are for...

...friends and brunch and bike rides and photography.

Yeah. That's a good Sunday.

Today, Kimi and I decided to have brunch. At Matt's house. He didn't seem to mind!

They have had many brunches together and seem to have it down pat. So I let them do most of the work and decided to document the occasion.

Matt made waffles.

I brought strawberries and bananas to put on top.

Kimi used the fruit to make a delicious topping for the waffles. She also made homemade whipped cream. And scrambled eggs!

And here we are after completely stuffing ourselves...

Brunch: After

After brunch, Kimi went off to do her thing and I went for a short bike ride to take pics with Matt around the Gowanus Canal not far from us in Brooklyn.

It was a very fun Father's Day. ;)

The Spirit of New Jersey

Kevin and I spent most of the weekend together and it was super-fun!

We spent time with his friends Friday night and his family Saturday afternoon.

Then, Saturday night, his friend Darin (or "Captain Darin") invited us to be his guests on the cruise ship The Spirit of New Jersey.

Captain Darin

Ordinarily I'm no super-excited about organized trips on boats like this. But we had a nice little table for two for dinner, were treated beautifully by the staff, ate some yummy food, and avoided the cheezy entertainment by joining Captain Darin in the Wheel Room for a good portion of the trip.

Kevin & Captain Darin

Kevin and Darin have known each other since they were 5 years old and I had the pleasure of hearing about all sorts of mischief they got in together as kids.

The trip was three hours long and had amazing views of midtown and downtown Manhattan. We went under the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg bridges, saw a fireworks display, and got closer by boat to the Statue of Liberty than I've ever been without actually going to the island.

Here are some photos:
