Sex and the City Party

On Thursday night, Kara and Julie hosted an awesomely fun Sex and the City party!

I brought the fauxtobooth, the Cosmos were flowing, super-yummy chocolate fondue, and there was SOTC-themed trivia, charades, and pictionary.

And, of course, lots of hot, amazing women! I had a blast getting to know lots of new people. :)

Fauxtobooth: Bushwick

The Fauxtobooth made an appearance at a party in Bushwick on Saturday night. The party also had DJ Ross of Love, a live performance by Matthew Nichols, and "the most shocking personal bar you've ever seen". A good time was had by all!

See all the photos here.

The Baggot Inn: RIP

Over the years, I've gone to The Baggot Inn occasionally to have a drink and/or hear some live music. I was surprised to hear that it was closing, but happy that my friend Mike Fornatale would be performing during the closing night party.

The Baggot Inn

I got over there early in the night and ended up staying till the music was over. So many great people performed - Big Brother the One Man Band, Laura Dodd, Friday's Child, Dave Foster, Patti Rothberg, Mark Rinzel,Mike Fornatale, Julian Maile, Joe Hurley, and more. It was a blast!

Here are a few of the photos - see the rest here.

The Jupiter Deluxe

On Friday night, I shot The Jupiter Deluxe at Don Hill's.

I had met Mark Rinzel (lead vocals/bass) through Loser's Lounge and again at the closing night of The Baggot Inn. He's got some pipes! The band also has Colin Grub (vocals/lead guitar) and Tommy De Vito (drums). You oughtta check them out!

A few photos from the night... (See them all here.)

Photo Safari with Matt M.

On Sunday afternoon, I went out with another friend Matt (I have three now - I think that's enough, yeah??) to take some photos.

Matt M.

We spent several hours wandering around with our cameras out.

First stop was Coney Island...

We made the obligatory stop at Nathan's and had some corn dogs and french fries. Yum! But it was windy and a bit chilly for eating outdoors.

After Coney Island, we still had some energy, so we decided to check out Greenwood Cemetery, where neither of us had ever been. We shot some photos and nosed around a bit. It's huge and there are a lot of beautiful areas. Is it wrong to want to have a picnic in a cemetery? Don't worry - we didn't.

It was great hanging out and walking around, but it took a lot out of me! I later fell asleep on my couch... :)

Friday Rain Saturday Photofest

I have been inspired to shoot. On Friday I woke up early and was rarin' to go, but it was raining. And it didn't stop all day. I went out to pick up lunch and later went to see Iron Man. (Fun!) But for the most part, I was sitting on my couch. Cabin fever!

So on Saturday I more than made up for it. I went out on my own in Park Slope in the morning. Met up with Andre in the city in the afternoon. And then shot at the closing night party at Baggot Inn that night.

I'm still getting through the Baggot Inn photos and will have a separate post later, but here are a few of the other shots from the day...

Matt S's 29th Birthday Celebration!

May 8th was Matt's birthday.

Birthday Boy Matt

Lots and lots of people went to Habana Outpost in Fort Greene for yummy cuban sammies and corn on the cob and margaritas and beer and the like!

Habana Outpost

It's an awesome place with delicious food and outdoor seating. But it got pretty packed for a while there!

Here are some of the folks who were there (though there were lots more)...

We stayed until it closed at midnight. Then a bunch of us were walking home and to the subway and noticed that there was a party going on inside Stuart & Wright.

When we stopped to look in the window and take a couple pics, we were invited in for drinks and stuff. Fun and random!

Tuesday nights at Googie's Lounge

OMG! I have a new favorite place to go!

Googie's Lounge - upstairs at The Living Room! I've been there three times in, like, a week! And I have lots more reasons to go coming up.

Joe McGinty's Keyboard Karaoke has moved there, for instance! You pick from a few hundred songs and sing to Joe playing piano live! So, you know, if you screw up, he's there to help! It's super-fun.

And before every Keyboard Karaoke, awesome people play. This week, Circuit Parade kicked it off. I looooove Circuit Parade. I've taken photos of them and hung out with them and worshipped them and been worshipped BY them.

And next Tuesday Ward White will be there.

So, yeah. Cool place. Awesome music. New favorite hangout.

God's Ear

About a year ago I was part of the production team for God's Ear, written by Jenny Schwartz and directed by Anne Kauffman. It had a month-long run at the East 13th Street Theater.

Now it's back at The Vineyard! I'm not working on it this time around, but on Tuesday night I was able to score tix (thanks Jenny!) and check it out.

I still love this play. It's quirky and odd and beautiful and touching.

You can see it through May 18th!
Tue @ 7, Wed-Sat @ 8, Sat & Sun @ 3

And did I mention the play has been published? My name is in print twice. Once because I took the photo of Jenny Schwartz used in it:

And once in the listing of the production team. Cool!

After the show, there was a little gathering at Wined Up. It was a lot of fun seeing the cast and everyone again!

See the play!

Mmmm.... Ain't the sun grand?

I got outside a lot on Wednesday. And what a great day to do it...so sunny and perfect out!

Early afternoon I had lunch with my friends Charlie and Nate. We had $5 footlong subs from Subway.

And then ice cream. Did you know I love ice cream?? (Nate took this photo on my iPhone.)

Me! Photo by Nate.

Later in the afternoon, I was back outside with my friend Andre. He came out to Brooklyn and we went to Prospect Park until the sun was just about down.
