On Saturday Rick and I went with Sean and Elizabeth to the LA County Fair in Pomona.
It had been ages since I'd been to a fair - it brought me back to the many years I went to the fair in Essex Jct., VT. (And the one year that a friend and I decided to sneak in...but that's another story.)
It costs $17 to go into the fair, plus $10 parking. Plus tickets, if you want to go on rides or play games. Plus food. And, you know...money disappears at the fair! But when you let it, you have a very good time. :)

The first thing we did was go to the Totally Fried stand, where they had deep fried...everything. We got the poptarts, which were very yummy. Other choices included frogs legs, veggies, avocado, oreos, twinkies...
Here is our popart:

We then paid a couple extra bucks to see a large steer. It was impressively large. See how little Rick looks?

After that we went to see the farm animals. Goats, pigs, sheep, cows, horses, chickens, bunnies, rodents...
Rick and Sean fed the goats.

After the animals and going through some of the "as seen on tv" merchandise, the couples split up. Rick and I went on a ride called Speed. Only 8 people could ride at a time. It flung us around upside down and stuff. It was fun, but the scariest part was definitely the first flip. The whole ride lasted two minutes.

We also played two games. First, we did the one where you shoot the water and blow up a balloon. I totally won. We gave the prize (a choice of a stuffed animal) to another girl who was playing against us. Then we got a couple darts to do the balloon pop game. I totally won. But I won't rub it in. ;) I got a little panda, which I'll give to my nephew, who is a fan of Kung Fu Panda.

It was a super-fun day. I hope to go back (or to some other fair) next year!
