Cupcakes Take the Cake!

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Cupcake bloggers Rachel Kramer Bussel, Allison Bojarski, and Nichelle Stephens!

They are THE cupcake experts! For anything and everything cupcake-related, check out their blog at Cupcakes Take the Cake! And see more photos here.

Brooklyn...er...um...LA Dodgers!

Last night Rick brought me to Dodgers Stadium for a baseball game.

I don't know how BROOKLYN feels about the Dodgers, but I have a soft spot for them. And I figure if THEY could move from Brooklyn to LA, so can I! (Right? Right.)

It's a beautiful stadium, Rick's friends were really fun, and the Dodgers won 10-1 against the Padres. Yay!

Chinatown, Los Angeles

What a strange place! Cute, but deserted.

There are a bunch of art galleries there now, but only one was open yesterday. Rick says it gets crowded on Friday and Saturday nights - there are a couple bars, the art, etc.

But here is what it looked like on a Monday afternoon...

LA County Fair

On Saturday Rick and I went with Sean and Elizabeth to the LA County Fair in Pomona.

It had been ages since I'd been to a fair - it brought me back to the many years I went to the fair in Essex Jct., VT. (And the one year that a friend and I decided to sneak in...but that's another story.)

It costs $17 to go into the fair, plus $10 parking. Plus tickets, if you want to go on rides or play games. Plus food. And, you know...money disappears at the fair! But when you let it, you have a very good time. :)

The first thing we did was go to the Totally Fried stand, where they had deep fried...everything. We got the poptarts, which were very yummy. Other choices included frogs legs, veggies, avocado, oreos, twinkies...

Here is our popart:

We then paid a couple extra bucks to see a large steer. It was impressively large. See how little Rick looks?

After that we went to see the farm animals. Goats, pigs, sheep, cows, horses, chickens, bunnies, rodents...

Rick and Sean fed the goats.

After the animals and going through some of the "as seen on tv" merchandise, the couples split up. Rick and I went on a ride called Speed. Only 8 people could ride at a time. It flung us around upside down and stuff. It was fun, but the scariest part was definitely the first flip. The whole ride lasted two minutes.

We also played two games. First, we did the one where you shoot the water and blow up a balloon. I totally won. We gave the prize (a choice of a stuffed animal) to another girl who was playing against us. Then we got a couple darts to do the balloon pop game. I totally won. But I won't rub it in. ;) I got a little panda, which I'll give to my nephew, who is a fan of Kung Fu Panda.

It was a super-fun day. I hope to go back (or to some other fair) next year!

A change of pace...

I am upstate NY, visiting my father and practicing for my road test this afternoon.

I'd had so much driving and so little picture taking that last night I needed to get out of the house (and car)! I wanted barns and horses and things and my dad knew right where to bring me...

When I was a kid, I knew better than to touch electric fences. Yesterday I forgot about all that! Oops. And OUCH! But I got this awesome photo of chickens. :-/

I found out the hard way...

Pompanuck Wedding

On Saturday, I shot some photos at Mike & Elana's wedding at Pompanuck in Cambridge, NY. It was a gorgeous location, but rain hit hard all that day and into the night.

The wedding party and guests were in good spirits, though - the ceremony was beautiful and the party was fantastic...
