JPL Tweetup

Several months ago I started following MarsPhoenix on Twitter, which is how I came to find out about the JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) Tweetup on Wednesday night!

I'm BrooklynHilary on Twitter, if you wanna follow me.

Rick came too! Here we are in a Voyager Golden Record...

We got to meet members of the JPL mission teams...

Saw the Spacecraft Assembly Facility and the Space Flight Operations Facility...

Saw a full-size model of Phoenix...

We were given a swag bag with lots of neat postcards, stickers, a pin, 3D glasses and a 3D image.

And everyone was free to ask as many questions as they liked.

I even got run over by a rover!

You can see more of my photos here. (And more to come.)

It was so generous of them to open their doors to us and so much fun! If you are in the area in May, keep your eye out for their yearly open house/tour. You'll be glad you did!

Great photos! That was an amazing event, I really hope JPL makes it a standing tradition.

Thanks for coming and love the photos! We hope to have another Tweet-up soon, and we'll definitely have a Twitterzone at the JPL Open House in early May.

Joi: Thanks! Yeah it was great!

RheaB: Thanks for having us all - wow! I hope to make it in May and will spread the word to others as well. I know some Twitterers in San Diego who might make the trip!

RheaB: hope there's another Tweetup soon! A friend of mine in northern California introduced me to the @MarsExplorer tweetstream, and was unable to make this Tweetup, but she says she'd fly down for the next one.
