My UCB Improv Class is OVER!!

Oh, man, that was a SUPER-FUN 2 weeks! I met so many awesome people and worked with the wonderfully talented and cool Julie Brister (our teacher)!

I'm both relieved and sad that the experience is over. I'm going to sit on it for a couple weeks before deciding if I want to try to continue with Improv 201! I'm sure that it would benefit ME. Less sure that the CLASS would benefit. ;-)

Anyway! In this video I tell about some of my theater experiences back in school...

(See my personal story re: this film below photo!)

History With Hilary: October 24

I saw this movie accidentally.

I was in the 8th grade and a boy at school and I were going to go to see Stand By Me together. Because we were like...13...we couldn't get to the movie on our own. His parents agreed to drop us off at the theater, but to "earn" the ride, we had to make dinner for them.

So we made dinner, went to the movie theater, sat down in our seats and....

AGH!

We had read the wrong time in the paper and one screen was being shared by both Stand By Me and Soul Man.

So we watched Soul Man. Which was...well...godawful.

Improv Class at UCB - Day 2!

It's Entertainment Month with the Fiesta Movement! My mission is to take an improv class - I chose a two-week intensive class at UCB - Upright Citizens Brigade!

Here is my update for Day 2! I forgot to mention a fun part of class, though! We went in front of the class in groups of 4 and were given a household appliance and something it could never do in real life from the "audience". We then pretended we were an advertising agency and had to figure out how we would sell the product, who to, where...even write a jingle! My group's product was a hair dryer that, when used, would make you automatically win radio station contests. Funny! Another group's was great - a refrigerator that, when the door was opened, would spit out animals two by two, a la Noah's Ark. :)

My Trip So Far!

I've been on the road for three weeks and won't be home until Friday. This is where I have been so far.

Trip so far!

I've spent every night in a different place!

I've done all the driving and have created all the content by myself.

And I'm managing to even get some sleep.

:D

St. Joseph, MO - Home of Jesse James!

As I was driving along in my Fiesta, I suddenly saw a billboard telling me to discover St. Joseph. On the billboard was a photo of Jesse James - the one that I based my History With Hilary photo on!

Here they are:

History with Hilary: September 5

So...naturally I had to stop! I took a $3 tour of his old house, complete with bullet hole! (There is a framed hole on a wall. But the audio recording said that the bullet may have never actually come out of James' head.)

Here are a few photos of the place....

Meeting Princess Lasertron!

Remember my amazing bouquet that I had made for my wedding?!

Bouquet by Princess Lasertron

Today I had the pleasure of meeting the woman responsible for it - Megan Hunt, aka Princess Lasertron!

She is super-fun and ultra-talented! I had a blast hanging out with her and her family.

We got out the Fauxtobooth!

And her mother, Mary Beth, made some home-made pizzas - so delicious!

We've got some plans for tomorrow too...stay tuned!

Video Update! St. Louis, MO to Blair, NE!

Today I drove the Fiesta from St. Louis, MO to Blair, NE!

I stopped a couple times along the way - once to see a Winston Churchill memorial and once to tour the home of Jesse James! I was also temped to go to Mark Twain Lake, but it was a little too far out of the way... Another time!

All my hosts seem to know what desserts to feed me!

Todd & Sharon Jordan brought me to Fritz's in O Fallon, MO for frozen custard. So incredibly delicious! I had yellow cake batter frozen custard with strawberries... More, please!!

After dessert, we got out the Fauxtobooth! FUN!

Todd also took the opportunity to test drive the Fiesta! He was impressed... Yay!

Video Update! Plymouth, MI!

My day went a bit like this... Now I'm off to St. Louis, Louis!

Ford Video Shoot!

Yesterday I hung out at Ford all day and got to see the fabulous Sam DeLaGarza and Scott Monty!

Also, I took part in the taping of an internal video that will be sent from Corporate Headquarters to the dealerships. It was fun! They would ask me some questions or give me some statements and I'd answer or put things into my own words.

I was very, very nervous, but tried not to show it too much. I was standing in front of the Fiesta for the shoot and there were about a dozen people in production staring back at me. I guess that was the most nerve-wracking part! But all my time alone with the camera has helped. And my experience in grad school (where I finally became able to give a presentation without practically passing out) was also useful!

The shoot was at the Plymouth Coffee Bean in Plymouth, MI. It was a great little place and they made me a delicious drink called the Lady Grey - an Earl Grey Latte! Yum.

Here are some photos from the day...

Oh, man. Sometimes I'd rather just be in a cheap motel.

Old Drive-In Movie Theater

Who doesn't love a Drive-In Movie Theater?

This one was somewhere between Mifflinburg, PA and Detroit, MI! :D

It was just sittin' there on the side of the road... I was kinda prepared for someone to get on my case about driving right in and taking photos, but no one did. And there weren't any "No Trespassing" signs or anything like that. So...YAY!

Drive In

At first I drove right past the drive-in... I discovered this cute little church where I decided to turn around and go back!
